The low-carb lifestyle changed my life much more than physically

After you lose weight, a whole lot about your life changes. Besides the obvious physical differences in how you look and feel, there are some rather unexpected emotional and psychological issues that happen whether you know it or not. Some of them are good and others will blindside you if you aren't ready for them.

In Episode 34 of "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube," Christine and I talk about the amazing changes that happen in your life after experience low-carb weight loss. It's the fun part of going on the low-carb lifestyle being able to reap the rewards of your efforts and basking in the glory of achieving success and accomplishment when so many others have not been able to do the same. Hopefully seeing how our lives have changed following the low-carb miracle will encourage you in your lifestyle change.

See just a few ways our lives have changed in today's video:

In my book Livin' La Vida Low-Carb: My Journey From Flabby Fat To Sensationally Skinny In One Year, you will see exactly how much my life has changed since I was that 410-pound gargantuan man in January 2004 compared to the man I am today. The changes were dramatic and the way people treated me seemed to suddenly switch, too. To this day, that is the one thing that surprised me the most about my weight loss experience.

The book I wrote about my low-carb weight loss experience

The LLVLC Show #133: Interview with Drs. Mike and Mary Dan Eades (Part 1)

I interviewed Drs. Mike and Mary Dan Eades in Phoenix, AZ

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to meet and greet all the biggest names in low-carb research and science while attending the American Society of Bariatric Physicians and Nutrition & Metabolism Society conference in Phoenix, Arizona. In those few days, I tried to squeeze in as many interviews as I possibly could and over the next few weeks you'll be hearing these on my podcast show. First up this week is a delightful conversation with our good friends Drs. Mike and Mary Dan Eades from Protein Power.

In Episode 133 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore," I asked the dynamic low-carb duo a series of questions about livin' la vida low-carb, including why belly fat is harder to burn as you get older and what to do about it, which is better to consume between fat and protein, why is the "slow-burn" technique better for you than traditional resistance training methods, and so much more! Remember, today is only Part 1, so be sure to tune in again on Thursday for the remainder of the interview.

Although I had met Dr. Mike and Dr. Mary Dan previously at a low-carb science conference in Brooklyn, NY in January 2006 and interviewed them for my blog in October 2006, this was the first time I had been able to interview them for my podcast show. You will not find two more delightful people who treat you with the kind of respect and kindness that Mike and Mary Dan Eades do. They are tremendous ambassadors for this way of eating and I count it a real privilege to stand in their shadow working alongside them in this nutritional tour de force against the continuing low-fat diet enigma. THANK YOU for all you are doing in support for the low-carb lifestyle, Drs. Mike and Mary Dan Eades!

The LLVLC Show #132: The Fungal Connection To Obesity And Poor Health

Could this man have the answer to your weight and health problems?

When you think about obesity and health problems, generally the first place most physicians look at for dealing with these problems is a drug therapy. But what if the antibiotics that you consume are killing off the good bacteria inside of your body to fight the fungus that is eating away at you...LITERALLY! And what if the high-carb, low-fat diet that is so highly recommended is completely ineffective against these parasites that seek to destroy your health?

In Episode 132 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore," we talk to a rather fascinating fungus expert named Doug Kaufmann from "Know The Cause" who believes the best way to bring your health into complete control is to limit your carbohydrates so you'll stop feeding the fungus that is at the root cause of diseases like cancer, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and more. I'm sure you've never heard anything like this before, so hold on to your hats for some truly revolutionary ideas that could very well be the answer you need to address your health woes.

Click on the "LISTEN NOW" link below or download it to your iPod to hear Episode 132:

icon for podpress "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" Episode 132 [36:56m]: LISTEN NOW | Download

Doug Kaufmann may be on to something even bigger than a simple diet change. What if by default our healthy low-carb lifestyle is actually keeping fungus from growing and wreaking havoc on our bodies? Regardless of the reasons WHY you eat this way, the results are worth doing it for the rest of your life. You can hear the intense passion that Doug Kaufmann has for this issue and that he sincerely wants people to understand all the intricacies of the fungal connection to weight and health ailments.

Get cutting edge expert interviews like Doug Kaufmann anytime by:

1. Listening at the official web site
2. Calling (818) 688-2763 to listen via Podlinez
3. Subscribing to the RSS feed
4. Going to iTunes--Click here to subscribe!

He hit on so many topics, including cancer, statin drugs, Induction flu, and the fungal connection to virtually every health problem, but Doug Kaufmann really seems to know his stuff. What did you think about what he had to say regarding fungus and the healthy benefits of a low-carbohydrate diet for treating it? Share your thoughts in the show notes section of Episode 132. Be sure to visit KnowTheCause.com if you are interested in even more information about Doug and this one-of-a-kind topic.

Coming up next week, I'll be sharing my two-part interview with Drs. Mike & Mary Dan Eades from Protein Power fame. I saw them at the ASBP/Nutrition & Metabolism conference in Phoenix, AZ a couple of weeks ago and they were very kind to sit down with me for a 45-minute interview which you will hear on Monday and Thursday next week on "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore." DON'T MISS IT! :)

The LLVLC Show #131: Dr. Yoni Is No Phony Bariatric Physician

Obesity doc Yoni Freedhoff wonders about low-carb long-term

We hear it all the time from people who have genuine concerns about low-carb diets: Can you sustain it over the long-term? It's a fair question and I can appreciate that people who work in the medical community want to be thorough with the information they are providing their patients. Not every doctor asks that question with the best of intentions, but I think the one I interviewed for my podcast show today does.

In Episode 131 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore", you'll hear from Dr. Yoni Freedhoff in Ottawa, Ontario Canada as he talks about how he got into bariatric medicine, what he does in his office to help the obese, what he thinks about the low-carb diet as a sustainable lifestyle change, and why he believes the pharmaceutical answer to obesity isn't necessarily the primary answer for people desiring weight loss. I think you'll enjoy hearing what Dr. Freedhoff has to say. ENJOY!

Click on the "LISTEN NOW" link below or download it to your iPod to hear Episode 131:

icon for podpress "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" Episode 131 [22:02m]: LISTEN NOW | Download

Dr. Freedhoff is a very articulate physician who sincerely wants to help people beat their obesity through the use of a calorie budget--whether it is low-fat or low-carb--and trying to keep within their individualized parameters. It's an interesting strategy to give overweight and obese people "guidance" rather than shaming them into losing weight. I was pleased to hear him say that he understands fat and protein are filling (that thing called satiety) and are great for weight loss.

Get in on the fun with Dr. Yoni Freedhoff and others anytime by:

1. Listening at the official web site
2. Calling (818) 688-2763 to listen via Podlinez
3. Subscribing to the RSS feed
4. Going to iTunes--Click here to subscribe!

Are the concerns by Dr. Yoni Freehoff about the sustainability of low-carb diets over the long-term justified? What do you think about his philosophy for people dealing with obesity? Let's discuss it in the show notes section of Episode 131. Check out his blog "Weighty Matters" as well as his Bariatric Medical Institute web site for more information from this fascinating doctor who is helping his Canadian patients lose weight and get healthy again.

Come back later this week when I'll be sharing an outstanding interview I conducted with a man named Doug Kaufmann. One of my blog readers told me about Doug and his "Know The Cause" program which zeros in on fungus as a primary role in obesity and disease. I know, it sounds gross and a little crazy, but I can assure you this will be one podcast you will NEVER forget! That's what I have coming up for you on "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" on Thursday.

Help Jimmy Moore Tell Blogger His Blog Isn't 'Spam'

This is an Emergency Appeal to everyone who supports the "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog:

My blog on Google's Blogger has been shut down as SPAM as of Tuesday, April 15, 2008. I know it's hard to understand why, but they did. I was sent an e-mail from Blogger, who hosts the site, saying their automatic system flagged my blog as a "spam blog" and they locked it immediately.

According to the e-mail, it will remain locked until they get around to reviewing it and realizing it is not a SPAM blog. Apparently there are deadbeats out there who create blogs using an aggregate robot to steal content from legitimate sites (like mine) and they post a bunch of ads on it attracting people using keywords to lure them in. It's an annoying practice that I am in favor of shutting down. However, my blog is not one of those with ill intentions for the world.

This process of unlocking my blog has already lasted nearly a week and could take many more weeks to unlock it. The scary part is the longer it remains locked, the less chance it will ever be unlocked. It's sickening to be going through this right now, but I feel as though I'm at war with an invisible enemy (on top of the aggressive hack attack on my forum and other personal accounts recently) and the only way to say anything to Goggle Blogger is through their forums!!

You can read my blog right now and post comments, but I cannot post or reply to anyone. This dreaded scenario could go on for weeks unless some sort of intervention takes place. And that's where YOU come in. Without your intervention to inform Blogger that "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" is NOT a "spam blog," it could just sit there inactive and slowly DIE (and on the eve of my third anniversary on Monday, too!).

What seems to have worked for some is a large scale appeal to Blogger from others through their support forum asking them to unlock my blog. I need your help to tell Blogger that "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" is not a SPAM BLOG! CLICK HERE for the link to the post I made on the Blogger Help Forum under "log in issues" and you can post a comment here where hopefully it will get read.

The above link will take you to the post I made asking them to please unlock my blog as soon as possible. My plea to you is to PLEASE leave a message asking them to unlock my blog by clicking "reply" at the end of the post. Spread the word to your friends and other fellow readers of "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" about what is happening. I appreciate all of your support and assistance with clearing this up.

You do have to join the group to post, but it's super-easy. If you already have a Google account, then just click on the link along the side bar on the right-hand side and give yourself a nickname. Post your comment and VOILA! You've done your part to help me out. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Shutting down legitimate blogs that have been around for three years with over 3 million pageviews for "suspected spam" before checking them out is a damaging to everyone. Blogger needs to find a better way to go about doing this in the future. Hopefully with your help I can get my blog unlocked and begin posting regularly again...SOON!

Thank you so much because I know you will go to war for me. Take care!

Sincerely,

Jimmy Moore

LLVLC On YouTube (Episode 33): Cybercrime Hits Low-Carb Blogger With A Vengeance

Cybercrime is no less invasive than any other crime

These past couple of weeks have been rather interesting to say the least. As I detailed in this blog post last week, a hacker was able to invade and destroy my forum, steal money from my PayPal account, and then sneak a peek at my e-mail account. Violated doesn't even begin to describe the way I feel--angry, exposed, vulnerable, and victimized. What has happened to me should certainly serve as a lesson to anyone who chooses to be a member of the World Wide Web.

In Episode 33 of "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube," Christine and I talk very openly about all that has happened to us for the past two weeks since this hacker came into our lives attempting to destroy "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb." While this person has certainly taken down my old forum for good (and I'm in the midst of having a new safer and more secure one created as we speak), everything else they have done has just been more annoying than anything. Several more things have happened in the meantime since my blog update last week, so watch this video to see what has been going on.

Check out all these "coincidental" events in today's video:

Although we enjoyed a great time at a low-carb conference in Phoenix, AZ last weekend, it was overshadowed by the cowardly acts of a cybercriminal who apparently had something against me personally to spread such vitriolic acts of destruction to my online property. The FBI has been contacted and they are considering opening a case to investigate this crime. The problem with these kinds of criminals is they are very difficult to catch. But if there's a way, you better believe we're gonna find it!

On a positive note, I wanted to remind you to enter my 3rd blogiversary giveaway contest where I have more than 50 great prizes to share with my readers. I was hoping to share these prizes with you this week, but my blog was temporarily suspended by Blogger on April 15th because their robots have identified it as a "spam" one. This usually takes a few days to clear up and I'm hoping to be able to start blogging again real soon. If you are reading this on my "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog, then you know I'm back up again. It's yet another piece of this wild and wacky puzzle that has been a part of my life these past couple of weeks.

If you want to find encouragement in your low-carb lifestyle, then you'll not want to miss a single one of our previous YouTube videos. Go ahead and subscribe to our videos to get your first glimpse of all the new "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube" episodes. E-mail us anytime at livinlowcarbman@charter.net because we love hearing from our viewers. Share your show ideas, feedback, and anything else that's on your mind. THANK YOU for your support!

Karly is dedicated to encouraging women specifically to take care of themselves first and foremost so that their family and community can benefit from the strength that comes from recharging regularly. If you struggle with any of these things, then Karly has dedicated herself to helping others overcome like she did.

The LLVLC Show #127: Let Low-Carb Make You Look And Feel Pretty Again

One woman is 19, the other is in her 40s--can you tell which is which?

I feel pretty,
Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright!
And I pity
Any girl who isn't me tonight.

Those are the famous lyrics from hit Broadway show "The West Side Story" and are apropos for what I have to share with you in today's podcast show. Normally a discussion of a topic like "beauty" is waaaaaaaaaaaay out of my league, but thankfully I know some people who aren't just experts who simply talk the talk about it, but they have personally walked the walk as well. That's why I'm excited to share my interview with beauty and lifestyle expert Kat James today.

In Episode 127 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore", the author of The Truth About Beauty: Transform Your Looks And Your Life From The Inside Out shares her personal struggle through a devastating eating disorder, discovering a health-damaging liver problem that was corrected, and stumbling upon livin' la vida low-carb by accident one day when the whole grain bread she made for breakfast was too dry and she decided to put some butter on it. Kat James is one remarkable woman and I'm pleased to share Part 1 of my interview with her today.

But the amazing thing about Kat, who has a fabulous web site called InformedBeauty.com, is that she understands the dietary component to beauty that is often ignored by those who don't get the connection between sugar and carbohydrates and how you look. Whether you care about beauty or not, isn't it good to know that this way of eating we are engaged in is precisely how to look your very best?

LLVLC On YouTube (Episode 32): Will Somebody Please Tell Me What Low-Carb Is?!

This low-carb food pyramid kinda defines what low-carb means

Before you can enter a debate of ideas about anything, it's generally a good idea to define exactly what you mean when you say certain terms. One word that is lazily thrown around like everyone KNOWS exactly what it means (kinda like "love" is these days) is "low-carb." But you and I both know the definition of that word can vary greatly from one person to the next. It's part of what makes explaining livin' la vida low-carb to somebody that much more difficult. And let's not even get started on the marketing of "low-carb" products these days.

In Episode 32 of "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube," Christine and I set out to define what we mean when we say "low-carb." It's not rocket science people, but there are some who get sidetracked by what you mean when you express yourself with that term. It's one of the rationales behind having a stealth tactic for describing "low-carb" without actually using that term. Obviously, I DON'T subscribe to that theory and proudly use the term low-carb ALL the time. I'm livin' la vida low-carb, baby!

Find out what the word "low-carb" really means in today's video:

We already know that low-carb is the most nutrient-dense way to eat there is despite repeated claims by the media that the faddish low-carb "craze" is a whacked out way to eat. But you and I both know better because we live this lifestyle change day in and day out with amazing results. Anytime somebody questions my low-carb life, all I have to do is point to my weight loss and vastly improved health--shuts 'em up every time! How can they argue against positive personal experience? They can't!

Interestingly, people ask me "What is livin' la vida low-carb anyway?" all the time. Some wonder if it's a low-carb diet I came up with or what. I smile and say it's my way of expressing how the low-carb diet has radically changed my life forever. We all have our own little tweaks to make it work for us, but the basics are still there--keep your total carbohydrates (yes, even the so-called "healthy" whole grains) to a minimum, make sure you are eating enough fat for satiety and fuel (and whatever you do, don't mix low-carb with low-fat), and consume moderate amounts of protein at EVERY meal (again for satiety and weight loss). That's the template for a genuine low-carb diet that just plain works!

Watch any and all of our previous YouTube videos to get caught up on what we've done before. Make sure you also subscribe to our videos to join the hundreds who have become bona fide fans of "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube." Let us know what you think and how we can improve our videos by e-mailing us your thoughts at livinlowcarbman@charter.net. Dr. Jeffrey N. Gerber is a real physician who loves low-carb living

In Episode 126 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore", I had the distinct privilege of interviewing a medical doctor named Jeffry N. Gerber who has experienced a dramatic turnaround in the way he thinks about low-carb nutrition after seeing so much real life success in his patients. I especially enjoyed hearing from Dr. Gerber that it's not the patient's fault they are in the weight and health condition they are in. But in light of the latest research, these old axioms just don't cut it anymore which is why physicians like Dr. Gerber are coming around.
